Based in the greater Atlanta area, Kathryn Eytle McLean has spent several decades building an accomplished career in the travel and hotel industries. She spent the first eight years of her career in Georgetown, Guyana, where she served as a front desk manager at the Pegasus Hotel. During her time there, Kathryn Eytle McLean also worked as the assistant to the general manager. Through externships at hotels in London and Amsterdam, she received in-depth training in several aspects of hospitality management, including accounting, catering, duty management, and administration.
In 1991, Ms. McLean relocated to Toronto, Canada, where she joined Budget Car Rental as a branch manager. After seven years with the company, she leveraged her previous hospitality industry experience to take on a management position at Holiday Inn Mississauga. She served as the manager on duty, as well as a human resources manager, front desk supervisor, and guest services representative. To expand her skillsets, she completed corporate training with the Hospitality Training Network of Bass Hotels & Resorts as well as trainings in payroll administration, health and safety, and first aid and CPR.
Ms. McLean left her position at Holiday Inn to return to Guyana, where she became a shareholder and member of the board of directors of Frandec Travel Services, Inc. Also serving as the firm’s chief executive officer, she has worked diligently to expand her leadership capabilities through additional certifications and training. In 2004, Ms. McLean became certified through the Human Resources Practitioners Association in Guyana. She also participated in the American Express Travel Services IDC Owners Meetings for three consecutive years. In addition, she obtained an Executive MBA from the University of the West Indies. Today, Kathryn Eytle McLean balances her responsibilities at Frandec with her role as a board member of Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Ltd. (GBTI). Since 2017, she has also owned a franchise of Cruise Planners, where she helps her clients plan exciting vacations around the world.
