The Ron Savoury Collection

Ron Savory was born on the 21st Nov 1933 in Georgetown, Guyana. He began painting in 1958 after leaving Queens College where he achieved the Ordinary Level Secondary School Certificate in Art. Since then he has been self taught - he thrives on innovation in technique and subject matter derived mainly from nature - inspiration derived living as a field officer in the rain forest of South America in the late 50s and early 60s. Two of his main themes are inspired by petroglyphs and the tropical rain forest. He has pioneered the use of pre-Colombian motifs into the mainstream of Caribbean Art from 1959. He has lived in St. Lucia since 1980.
