GBTI Opens Port Kaituma Branch

(GINA, March 16, 2013) The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) continues to expand its services across the country. The bank opened a new branch in Port Kaituma, Region One, the first banking institution in the North West District.

Housed in a building that is also home to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) and the Guyana Gold Board (GGB) branches, the GBTI Port Kaituma branch was commissioned today before Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, the bank’s executives and residents of the community.

Charitable Donations

GBTI on December 6 made charitable donations to eight Not for Profit Organisations at its Annual Donation Ceremony. Manager-Administration, Mr. Sean Noel during opening remarks at the Ceremony at the Corporate Office, Kingston highlighted the importance of continuing to recognise the impact that these organisations make on society through their acts of benevolence.

GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition

After more than a month of intense competition, St. Stanislaus College emerged the winners of this year’s GBTI Impromptu Speech Competition defeating St. Rose’s High by 54 points. St. Stanislaus College won with 683 points while St. Rose’s gained 629 points. The best speaker was Darryl Goodchild of St. Stanislaus College who gave a lively presentation on the topic “Beauty”. Chief Judge Ms. Bonita Hunter at the end of the presentations stated however that while the teams gave good speeches, nervousness and a possible inability to role play hindered their presentations from being as good as they could have been.

Anna Regina Branch Diwali Show

The Anna Regina Branch on November 12 hosted its 13th Annual Cultural Evening in celebration of Diwali. The event attracted in excess of 1,000 persons . The programme hosted a rich cultural mix of Diwali renditions, dances and religious messages performed and presented by members of various Mandirs in the Region.
