Our Bank is a licensed dealer in foreign currency and all of our branches provide currency exchange “cambio” services. Our exchange rates are competitive and customers are given receipts for transactions. See current currency exchange rates.
Our foreign drafts, which are drawn on the major international banks, allow you to make payment for products and services in the major currencies: US, STG & CAN. We also accept your foreign cheques on deposit, which proceeds are released upon the expiration of a holding period, to allow us to confirm the cheque with our overseas banks.
Inward / Outward Money Transfer
Our membership of the SWIFT Network enables us to receive and transfer funds to any country in the world. The SWIFT system facilitates real-time processing of your transaction ensuring delivery and receipt within minutes of transmission. These accounts are offered in US and Canadian Dollars and Pounds Sterling and are available to non-residents, local exporters and gold miners. However the local exporters and gold miners must obtain approval from the Bank of Guyana before such accounts can be opened. All deposits to these accounts must originate from an overseas source.
VISA and American Express Travellers Cheques
Utilise our Travelers Cheques service when traveling overseas. We sell and purchase VISA and American Express Travelers Cheques in the major currencies (US, CAN and STG) at the prevailing Cambio rates.
American Express Card Applications
We offer an American Express Card Application service that allows you to obtain your Personal, Gold or Corporate card based upon our recommendations. Contact our Water St. HQ Loans Department to obtain details of the service.
